We shall learn about the fundamentals of a Digital Communication System (DCS). The key areas which we shall consider are Information theory, Baseband modulation and Error-control coding. This course will lay the foundations for the third year course "Digital Communications II - ELET3151". These two courses (ELET 2130, 3151) will give you the necessary knowledge to embark upon a career in Telecommunications.
- If you manage to get a First Class (1.0) then you are eligible to undertake a Master of Philosophy Degree (M.Phil.) under my supervision for a period of two years. On my home page, you will see the publications that were produced by my postgraduate students during their Master's degree. Each paper was presented by the postgraduate student overseas, all expenses paid by UWI.
- I will be introducing from Sept 2011, an online M.Sc. in Telecommunications that can be taken from anywhere in the world. There are no face-to-face lectures. There will be core course modules, in collaboration with Middlesex University (UK) and a thesis. Duration of two years (because its part-time) and will allow you to undertake a job at the same time. Cost will be near $ 24,000 BDS (or US $12,000) . You pay only for each module you take.
